Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Floured surface
  • Oven
  • Baking sheet

Ingredients

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 tbsp softened butter unsalted
  • 3 tsp milk
  • 1/8 tsp almond extract
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 egg
  • 8 tbsp sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 tbsp sprinkles
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter and sugar. Using an electric mixer, beat the mixture until light and fluffy for approximately 2-3 minutes.
  • Gradually add in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Mix well after each addition to ensure all ingredients are fully incorporated.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients while mixing on low speed.
  • Next, pour in the milk and almond extract and mix until a smooth dough forms. If needed, add a bit more milk to achieve the desired consistency.
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to cut out your preferred shapes and place them onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Before placing the cookies in the oven, sprinkle them with additional sugar or add a delightful touch of sprinkles on top.
  • Bake the cookies for 8-12 minutes at 350°F (175°C) until they have a beautiful light golden color around the edges. Once done, let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Serve and enjoy your scrumptious Publix sugar cookies! For an extra special treat, decorate with icing and even more sprinkles.

Notes

  • It's important to use softened butter for the best results. Leave it out at room temperature for about an hour before using it.
  • If you prefer a crispier cookie, roll the dough to a thinner thickness and bake for a few extra minutes.
  • To add more flavor, you can mix in chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or dried fruit into the cookie dough before baking.
  • Make sure to mix the ingredients well after each addition to ensure everything is fully incorporated.
