Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup + 1 teaspoon granulated sugar, divided
  • 1 small green cabbage
  • 1 cup white wine vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup canola oil
  • 1 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1 teaspoon mustard

Instructions

  • Start by combining 1/2 cup of sugar, vinegar, and salt in a bowl. Whisk until the sugar has dissolved. Add the oil to the mixture and whisk until all ingredients are combined into a smooth dressing.
  • Cut up the cabbage and place it into a large bowl. Pour the dressing over the cabbage and mix until all ingredients are combined.
  • Add the celery seed, mustard, and remaining teaspoon of sugar to the mixture and stir until everything is well combined. Let it sit for at least 10 minutes before serving.

  • If you want a sweeter coleslaw, add more sugar in small increments until you get the desired sweetness.
  • You can add other vegetables such as carrots, celery, or bell peppers to give the coleslaw a different flavor profile.
