Equipment

  • Oven
  • Mixing bowl
  • spatula, etc.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup broccoli florets chopped
  • 1 diced onion
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk or butter milk
  • 1 unbaked pie crust
  • 2 tablespoons butter unsalted
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese grated
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Roll out your pie crust on a floured surface and place it in a 9-inch pie dish, pressing it down gently around the edges.
  • In a medium-sized skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add in the chopped broccoli and diced onion, cooking until they are soft, about 5 minutes.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat together the eggs, milk, and heavy cream until well combined. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Place the cooked broccoli and onion mixture onto the bottom of the prepared pie crust. Then, sprinkle the grated cheese over the top.
  • Pour the egg mixture over the vegetables and cheese in the pie crust.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean and the quiche is firm. Let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy!

Notes

  • You can add other vegetables such as mushrooms or bell peppers to the quiche for added flavor and nutrition.
  • If you're short on time, use a store-bought pre-made pie crust instead of making your own.
  • Make sure to let the quiche cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving to prevent it from falling apart.  ''
  • For a lower calorie option, you can use skim milk and half-and-half instead of whole milk and heavy cream.
  • This quiche can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Simply reheat in the oven or microwave before serving.
  • Experiment with different types of cheese such as Gruyere, Swiss, or even feta to give the quiche a unique flavor.
  • You can also make mini quiches using pre-made tart shells for individual servings. Just adjust the baking time accordingly.
