Ingredients

  • ¼ cup Vegetable Oil
  • 2 Medium Onions Thinly Sliced
  • 3 lb Ground Beef
  • 4 tablespoons Chili Powder
  • 48 oz Diced Tomatoes
  • 2 Small Green Peppers
  • ¼ teaspoon Tabasco Hot Sauce
  • 2 Cloves Garlic
  • 48 oz Pinto Beans
  • 1 cup Water
  • 2 teaspoons Ground Cumin

Instructions

  • Begin by heating the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Cook the onions until softened and lightly browned, stirring occasionally for about 5 minutes.
  • Add the ground beef to the pot and cook until completely browned, approximately 8 minutes. Blend in chili powder, diced tomatoes, green peppers, Tabasco sauce,perfectly and garlic; stir to combine and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  • Pour in pinto beans, water,, and ground cumin into the pot. Stir to amalgamate. Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer until chili has thickened, usually about 45 minutes.
  • Serve with your favorite condiments.

  • Use lean ground beef to reduce the fat content of this dish.
  • To make this dish vegetarian, simply omit the ground beef and double up on the amount of beans used.
  • To reduce the spiciness, use mild chili powder or opt for paprika instead.
  • If you're looking for an extra smoky flavor, consider adding a few drops of liquid smoke to the chili.
  • If you like your chili on the sweeter side, add a tablespoon of brown sugar or honey.
