Bob Evans Colonial Dressing Recipe

- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon celery
- 1/8 cup cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon celery seeds
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup white or cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water together until completely dissolved. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the celery salt, celery seeds, vinegar, sugar and butter and bring to a boil.
Reduce the heat to low and slowly add the cornstarch mixture while stirring. Add the pepper, onion powder, and salt to the mixture and continue stirring until thickened (about 5 minutes).
Remove from heat and allow it to cool before using or storing it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
- If you want a thinner dressing, add more water or less cornstarch.
- If you want a sweeter dressing, add an extra tablespoon of sugar.
