Equipment

  • Blender
  • Bowl

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup of water
  • 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon of ground paprika
  • 1/8 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 cup of vinegar
  • A pinch of dried thyme
  • 1/4 cup of agave syrup or your preferred sweetener
  • A dash of sea salt
  • 2/3 cup of organic ketchup or your homemade variety
  • 1/4 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of freshly cracked black pepper

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, mix the ketchup, water, agave syrup (or your preferred sweetener), and vinegar. Stir everything together until smooth and well combined.
Step 1 Combine the Liquid Ingredients
  • Add the garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and a pinch of dried thyme to the liquid mixture. Stir well to evenly blend the spices throughout the dressing.
Step 2 Add the Dry Ingredients
  • Add a dash of sea salt and give the mixture another good stir to ensure all ingredients are fully incorporated.
    Step 3 Season with Salt
  • Transfer the mixture to a saucepan and place it over medium heat. Bring the sauce to a simmer, stirring occasionally. Let it simmer until it reaches your desired thickness, usually around 5-7 minutes. This will help the flavors meld and the sauce thicken.
    Step 4 Simmer the Sauce
  • Once the sauce has thickened, remove it from heat and allow it to cool slightly. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed. Transfer the dressing to an airtight container.
Step 5 Cool, Adjust, and Store
  • Let the dressing chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to enhance the flavors. Once chilled, serve your tangy tomato dressing over salads, grilled veggies, or as a dipping sauce.

Notes

  • If you want to give the Tangy tomato dressing a creamier texture, try adding 1/4 cup of avocado, but be sure to mash it up before adding it.
  • You can also add some chopped herbs such as basil or parsley if desired.
  • Make sure to refrigerate any leftover dressing.
