- There is only enough French bread for one loaf
- Add some Parmesan to it! (In granular form)
- Season with Italian seasoning, one teaspoon at a time
- Eight ounces of thinly sliced mozzarella
- Half a tablespoon of crushed red pepper
- Onion powder (2-3 teaspoons)
- 1-2 margarine cubes
- Simmer in 8 ounces of tomato sauce
- Powdered garlic, half a teaspoon’s worth
- A single teaspoon of oregano
- Sausage, American Style, 1 Pound
- Tomato paste, six ounces
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Slice the French bread into four slices and spread a generous layer of Parmesan cheese onto each slice.
Sprinkle the Italian seasoning over top, followed by a few pieces of mozzarella.
Sprinkle the crushed red pepper, onion powder, and margarine cubes on top.
In a separate bowl mix together the tomato sauce, powdered garlic, and oregano.
Place the sausage slices on top of each slice of bread.
Pour the tomato sauce mixture over the top of the sandwiches and spread a layer of tomato paste over each one.
Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
-If you don’t have Parmesan cheese on hand, you can substitute it with any type of hard cheese such as cheddar or Swiss.
-For extra flavor, try adding some fresh herbs such as basil or oregano to the tomato sauce mixture.
-Serve the sandwiches hot out of the oven for best results!
