Equipment

  • Oven
  • 2 medium bowls
  • Baking sheet

Ingredients

  • 170 grams of unsalted butter
  • 3 g salt
  • 3 g baking soda
  • 2 grams of baking powder
  • 250 g white flour
  • 200 grams brown sugar
  • 100 grams white sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg + 1 extra yolk
  • 2 generous handfuls of chocolate chips
  • 2 grams of baking powder

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or use a silicone baking mat.
  • In a medium bowl, cream together butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Add in egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract and mix until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients a little at a time and mix until everything is incorporated.
  • Gently fold in chocolate chips with a spatula or wooden spoon. Using a small cookie scoop or spoon, drop the cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Notes

  • For an extra delicious cookie, try adding in chopped walnuts or pecans to the cookie dough.
  • For an added crunch, add a handful of baking chips such as white chocolate or butterscotch to your dough.
  • If you prefer cookies on the softer side, bake for less time- about 8 minutes should do it!
  • You can also add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to your cookie dough for an extra special flavor.
