Kewpee burgers are a classic American fast food dish that has been around since the 1920s. The burgers are small and thin, made with beef, onions, and a special sauce.
1/2teaspoonfreshly ground Tellicherry black pepper
8artisanal brioche hamburger buns
2teaspoonscaramelized onion powder
Instructions
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with roasted garlic powder and caramelized onion powder. Form the mixture into 8 equally sized patties.
Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook to your desired level of doneness, usually about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare.
In a small bowl, mix the homemade olive tapenade spread with the avocado oil-based mayonnaise until well combined. Add a pinch of freshly ground Tellicherry black pepper to the mixture and stir thoroughly.
Slice the brioche hamburger buns in half. Toast them lightly on the grill or in a toaster until they're golden brown.
Spread a generous amount of the olive tapenade aioli on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Place a cooked beef patty on top of the aioli. Sprinkle sliced Kalamata olives on the patty. Add the top half of the toasted bun.
Arrange the prepared Kewpee Burgers on a serving platter. Serve immediately while they're warm and enjoy the unique flavors!
Notes
When shaping the burgers, make sure to press them down slightly so that they don't puff up too much when cooking.
When cooking the burgers, make sure to cook them for long enough so that they are cooked through.
If you're looking for a bit of extra flavor, try adding some Worcestershire sauce to the ground beef mixture.
If you're in a rush, you can also cook the burgers in the oven. Preheat the oven to 350°F, then place the burgers on a baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until cooked through.
If you don't have any buns, you can also serve the burgers on lettuce leaves or in a wrap.
To make the burgers spicier, try adding some hot sauce to the ketchup.
