- 1 lb. Ground Beef
- ½ pack of Penne Pasta about 8 oz or 225g
- 1 Jalapeno optional, diced
- 1 Bell Pepper diced
- ½ cup Butter
- 1 Shallot Diced
- 2 cups Spinach leaves
- 1 tsp Old Bay Seasoning
- 2 tsp Garlic Powder
- Additional ½ tsp Garlic Powder
- 2 tsp Onion Powder
- 1 tsp Black Pepper
- 1 tsp Salt
- ½ cup Heavy Whipped Cream
- 2 tsp Cream Cheese
- 1 cup Mozzarella or as per preference
- Sriracha Sauce for serving
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil.
Cook the penne pasta in boiling water according to the package instructions.
While the pasta is cooking, melt butter over medium-high heat in a skillet.
Add diced shallots and jalapeno (if using) to the skillet. Cook for about 2 minutes until they have softened.
Add the ground beef, onion powder, garlic powder, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper into the skillet.
Cook the mixture until the beef is browned and fully cooked.
Stir in the diced bell peppers and cook for another 2 minutes.
Next, stir in the shrimp and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until they turn pink and are fully cooked.
Add the heavy whipped cream, cream cheese, and mozzarella cheese to the skillet.
Stir until all the ingredients are well combined and the cheeses have melted.
Drain the cooked pasta and add it to the skillet.
Stir until all the pasta is fully coated in the sauce.
Add in a handful of spinach leaves and gently stir them into the pasta until they wilt slightly.
Serve the pasta hot with a drizzle of Sriracha sauce on top for an extra kick of heat.
- To make this dish even healthier, you can use whole wheat penne pasta instead of regular.
- If you're not a fan of spicy food, you can omit the jalapeno and Sriracha sauce.
- This dish is great for meal prep as it reheats well and makes for delicious leftovers.
- You can add any other vegetables such as mushrooms, zucchini, or cherry tomatoes to add more variety and nutrition.
- For a twist on the classic recipe, you can use different types of pasta such as farfalle, rigatoni, or linguine.
