Instructions
Combine dry ingredients in a bowl.
Mix warm milk, butter, yolks, and vanilla into the dry mix.
Knead until smooth, then let the dough rise for an hour.
Punch down the dough, divide it, roll it into ropes, and wrap it around a cylinder.
Sprinkle with sugar and rest for 10-15 minutes while preheating the oven.
Bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Remove, cool briefly, and slide off the cylinder.
Brush with honey and add your preferred toppings.
Slice and enjoy while warm or reheat briefly.
Notes
Make sure the milk is warm, not hot. Hot milk can kill the yeast, resulting in a flat and dense cake.
Don't over-knead the dough as it can cause the gluten to develop too much, making it difficult to shape.
For added flavor, you can use flavored extracts such as almond or lemon extract instead of vanilla extract.
Experiment with different toppings to find your favorite combination. You can also use chocolate chips, dried fruits, or sprinkles.
