Creating an unforgettable burger is an art. In my quest for the perfect recipe, I found Bobby Flay’s blue cheese burger, which stood out to me. What makes this burger so special? It’s all about the flavors.

Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients
First, gather and prep all your ingredients. It’s always best to have everything ready before you start cooking.
Step 2: Mix the Beef
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with cayenne pepper, garlic powder, oregano, and basil. Use your hands gently to mix the spices in. Don’t overwork the meat; you want it to stay tender.
Step 3: Form the Patties
Divide the beef mixture into four equal portions and form them into patties. Make each patty slightly larger than the hamburger buns. This will account for shrinkage during cooking.
Step 4: Cook the Patties
Heat up your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grates or skillet to prevent sticking. Once hot, place the burger patties onto the grill. Cook for approximately 3-4 minutes on one side.
Step 5: Add Cheese
Flip the burgers and place one portion of blue cheese on each patty. Grill for another 3-4 minutes. The cheese should melt beautifully and envelop the patty.
Step 6: Toast the Buns
While the burgers are cooking, toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in the skillet for about 1-2 minutes until they are lightly browned. This adds crunch and depth to the burger.
Step 7: Assemble the Burgers
Once cooked to your liking, remove the burgers from the grill. Assemble each burger with your desired toppings, like lettuce, tomatoes, or pickles, and serve it between the toasted buns.
Notes
Ground Beef: I prefer using 80/20 beef for balance—flavor without being overly fatty.
Blue Cheese: This cheese can be intense. Crumbling it helps to distribute the flavor in each bite.Spices: My love for cayenne pepper stems from its ability to amplify flavors. Adjust according to your heat preference.
